Bigger than Jesus - 1
"That will be $19.62, ma'am," the cashier replied from under his mustache in a low Southern drawl. I dug through my wallet and fished out a twenty dollar bill. Placing it in the man's large pink hand, I picked up the two stuffed bags of groceries. He waved his hand over the register and the change drawer shot open, but I stopped him with a brief "Keep the change", his hand halfway into the dimes compartment.
Walking out of the market, I made my way across the parking lot to a waiting Cadillac. For all I knew, Eppy was going to kill me if he found out I was running errands so late in the evening, particularly in the South with all that had be
